E-bike riders unite!
Sometime in 2009, the Ontario Legislature will be passing legislation to disposition the pilot project to permit the use of Power Assisted Bicycles on Ontario Roads.
Of particular concern are statements from the Ministry of Transport that emergence of scooter-style e-bikes was not within the intent of the original legislation (although they technically meet the definition of a power-assisted bicycle established by the federal government.) [See E-Bike Politics.]
The purpose of this initiative is to establish a network of scooter-style e-bike riders and their supporters, that would be willing to bring their e-bikes to a rally in front of Queen's Park as a show of political support for their continued use as a safe, inexpensive, low polluting transportation technology in Ontario. The specific date and details for such a rally are yet to be determined. |

This site is dedicated to helping electric bike (e-bike) riders meet up with other e-bike riders in their communities so they can do things such as:
- ride together
- talk about their experiences
- share information,
- provide mutual support (technical knowhow, riding skills, etc),
- organize as a group to promote e-bike awareness in their communities,
- lobby and provide feedback to the Ontario Government, when the time comes, as to the shape of the e-bike regulations at the end of the trial period.

The first purpose of becoming a contact is to just simply let it be known that you are interested in meeting other e-bike riders. You do not have to commit to organizing and forming a group at the outset. You are just letting others know that you are here. |
