E-bike riders unite!

Sometime in 2009, the Ontario Legislature will be passing legislation to disposition the pilot project to permit the use of Power Assisted Bicycles on Ontario Roads.

Of particular concern are statements from the Ministry of Transport that emergence of scooter-style e-bikes was not within the intent of the original legislation (although they technically meet the definition of a power-assisted bicycle established by the federal government.) [See E-Bike Politics.]

The purpose of this initiative is to establish a network of scooter-style e-bike riders and their supporters, that would be willing to bring their e-bikes to a rally in front of Queen's Park as a show of political support for their continued use as a safe, inexpensive, low polluting transportation technology in Ontario. The specific date and details for such a rally are yet to be determined.

If you wish to participate in or support this initiative please subscribe to the 1000 E-Bikes Mailing List and I will keep you up to date on news and developments.  Alternatively, you can join the Facebook group 1000 E-Bikes at Queen's Park.

Please note that this intiative will eventually require a lot of volunteer effort. Please tell me if you have any skills, knowledge or experience that can help.
